Dr. Angel was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. He attended the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and Presbyterian College in South Carolina were he received his premedical B.S. degree.  Dr. Angel later attended the Universidad del Rosario Medical School in Bogotá were he received his medical degree and attended the general surgery residency program.  His fellowships include pediatric surgery and urology at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital and pediatric surgery and oncology at Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital all through the University of Tennessee Memphis.  Before coming to Knoxville, Dr. Angel held a distinguished 13 year position at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.  Dr. Angel spends much of his vacation time on medical mission trips to various under served areas of the world.
